Mina taught this week's lesson on identifying skills associated with future careers for our students. We split our students into two groups and asked them to work on two assignments as a group. The first assignment was to identify skills they currently possess and skills they would need in their desired careers. The second worksheet was to help students match up skills with different jobs. We also assessed our students interests and skills by having them fill out a formula-based worksheet. In the second half of the hour, we allowed our students to journal about their future including their anxieties and fears. Many of our students worry about their abilities to go to college and have a good life. We hope to use this information next week to help students develop a script for their August performance!
And of course, we couldn't end the day without enjoying the lovely weather. We took our students to get some ice cream and they had a fabulous time.
